Royal family stopped Meghan Markle from saying one word on Suits

Creator Aaron Kosh has spilled on how the royal family 'weighed in' on Meghan's final season of Suits.

The creator of Suits has revealed that the royal family prevented Meghan Markle from saying one word while filming her final season of the legal drama series.

The Duchess of Sussex starred in seasons 1 to 7 of Suits, which has recently seen a resurgence on streaming services, but left in 2018 when she retired from acting upon marrying Prince Harry.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Aaron Kosh claimed that the royals “weighed in on some stuff” Meghan said and did during filming which he found to be “a little irritating”.

“I remember one was a particular line of dialogue,” he recalled. “My wife’s family, when they have a topic to discuss that might be sensitive, they use the word, ‘poppycock’.

“So, in the episode, Mike [Patrick J. Adams] and Rachel [Meghan] were going to have a thing, and as a nod to my in-laws, we were going to have her say, ‘My family would say poppycock.’ And the royal family did not want her saying the word. They didn’t want to put the word ‘poppycock’ in her mouth.”

Aaron went on to say that he assumed the royal family didn’t want Meghan to say ‘cock’ in case it was edited on the internet, so they replaced it with ‘bulls**t’.

“I did not like it because I’d told my in-laws that [poppycock] was going to be in the show,” he continued, adding that “there was maybe one or two” other incidents where the royal family made changes that he can’t remember.

Prior to becoming a royal, Meghan was a ‘briefcase girl’ on the US game show Deal or No Deal between 2006 and 2007.

She also had small roles in the Hollywood films Horrible Bosses, Remember Me, and Get Him To The Greek, as well as the Hallmark movies When Sparks Fly and Dater’s Handbook.

In recent years, Meghan narrated the Disney nature documentary Elephant in 2020 and starred alongside Prince Harry in the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan last year.
