Now, the 19-year-old animal conservationist’s rumoured salary has been revealed, and it might surprise people.
Daily Mail reports that Robert will earn “over $430,000” for his work on the Channel 10 reality show, which films for six weeks in South Africa.
A network insider told the publication that they believe Robert will be “worth every cent” as he has an international fan base.
“His pairing with the witty and ever-entertaining Julia has all the makings of a dynamic duo, promising viewers an unforgettable experience,” they said.
Robert’s eye-watering salary is compared to the enormous pay cheques earned by the contestants on this year’s season of the reality show.
Yahoo Lifestyle revealed in April that former Bachelor star Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins was one of the highest-paid campmates to ever appear on the series with a salary of “around $250,000 to $300,000”.
While it's unknown how much Chris Brown earned during his time on I'm A Celebrity, news.com.au reported he is now on a $1 million annual salary at rival network Seven.
The major change coming to next season
Speaking about his new gig on The Project on Tuesday evening, Robert revealed that there was a huge change coming to the next season of I’m A Celebrity.
“This is one of the reasons I was so excited to join this show,” he shared. “I'm A Celebrity have vowed to cease all use of wildlife in the show, the entire consumptive use of wildlife is done and has ceased.
“All of those eating trials still continue, the shock factor is still there, but it's with sustainably farmed animals: cows, pigs, chickens, things like that.”
Robert went on to say that the change is “very important” to him and he’s excited to “forge a new path”.
“I'm very proud of what we're doing together to really hit home and lead by example with wildlife conservation in this new season of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!” he continued.
“We definitely are, seriously impressed with you,” Julia added.
