While it can be very fun buying gifts for your loved ones at Christmas, it’s often not as enjoyable wrapping them up to put under the tree. Whether you’re struggling to glide the scissors along the paper or awkwardly trying to wrap something round, the activity is arguably one of the most tedious tasks you’ll do throughout the holiday season.

Thankfully, Kmart has introduced a new gadget ahead of the Christmas period which aims to make the chore much easier. The retail store’s $2 wrapping paper cutter, which is available in both red and green, makes wrapping Christmas gifts a breeze in just a few easy steps.

First, you insert the roll of wrapping paper inside the cutter and pull the paper through the opening. After you’ve measured the paper to get your desired length, slide the paper down until it inserts inside the blade slot. Finally, slide the wrapping paper cutter away from you and the job is done in one clean swoop.

The wrapping paper cutter is only 10cm tall with a 6cm diameter, making it easy to store away when not in use.

Although shoppers have praised the item’s low cost, some people have found that the task isn’t as straightforward as it might seem.

One woman left a 3-star review on Kmart’s website, writing: “Seems a bit trickier to use than I thought!”

Another shopper gave the item 4 stars and said: “Great little tool for the price. The blade is a little flimsy so you’ve gotta get the angle just right but when you do it cuts perfectly.”

However, different branded versions of the stationary gadget have gone viral on TikTok with social media users calling it a “must-have” item this Christmas.

“Why didn’t I think of this? Stop fighting with scissors to cut your wrapping paper,” content creator @sarcastic_momlife said. “Take my money. Just take my money!”

Kmart’s wrapping paper cutter isn’t the only item helping shoppers this Christmas, with the store’s $3 bike gift bag being hailed a “game-changer”.

Rather than haphazardly wrapping a bicycle with wrapping paper, the red and white striped bag is perfect for large Christmas gifts.

Another popular item is Kmart’s $8 Christmas wrapping paper storage, keeping your wrapping paper, ribbons, bows and tape neatly packed away all year round.

The retail store also sells assorted bottle bags embossed with letters for $4, novelty bottle holders for $2, and gift bags for $1.
