Kmart shoppers go wild for 'amazing' $15 Christmas dupe of popular $55 item

Any Christmas lover knows that the holiday season isn’t just a time of year, it’s a state of mind. To fully immersive yourself in the festive period you should engage with all of your senses by baking Christmas treats, listening to Christmas music, watching Christmas films, and - of course - smelling Christmas candles.

Kmart Australia recently announced its 2024 Christmas collection filled with various clothing items, kitchen gadgets and home decor, including an impressive range of festive candles. Shoppers have described the $15 candles as dupes of the popular Glasshouse Fragrances Candles, which typically sell for around $54.95 on their website.

Kmart’s range includes a ginger and vanilla scented gingerbread candle, an apple and cinnamon scented Christmas spice candle, a vanilla and cinnamon scented Christmas cookie candle, and a cranberry and pomegranate scented Christmas botanical candle.

All four candles are in glass vessels and suitable for indoor use only, and the first two have a double wick.

Kmart also stocks three candles at a slightly cheaper price point of $12 which each feature a festive snow globe on the lid. These are available in Christmas cookie fragrance with a Santa snow globe, caramel and vanilla fragrance with a reindeer snow globe, and apple and cinnamon fragrance with a gingerbread house snow globe.

But wait - there’s more! Rounding out the candle range is a ginger and nutmeg scented candle with a gingerbread man on the lid, a blueberry and vanilla scented candle with a Christmas tree on the lid, and a tangerine and berry scented candle with a red bow on the lid. All three are available for just $8, which is perfect if you’re buying a Secret Santa present with a $10 budget.

Shoppers divided over 2024 scents

Several TikTok content creators have shared videos showcasing Kmart’s 2024 Christmas range over the past week, including Georgia Brown (@georgiabrown916) who described the candles as Glasshouse dupes.

“They are so good! I got so many and only $15 each,” one follower commented, while another added, “They have a Christmas cookie one and it smells amazing”.

“The rum and fruit one smells amazing,” a third remarked, followed by someone else who said, “Sugar cookie is my fave!”.

Not everyone appears to be a fan, however, with one person commenting: “I don’t like any Kmart candles they all smell cheap and rank.”

“Last year, everyone raved about them and I thought they were all horrible,” someone else agreed. “Crazy sense of smell I suppose.”
