I'm A Celebrity 2023 winner Liz Ellis shares honest thoughts on Robert Irwin as host
EXCLUSIVE: The season nine champion reflects on her time in the jungle and offers advice to the 2024 cast.
Ahead of the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, 2023 winner and reigning ‘Queen of the Jungle’ Liz Ellis has shared what she thinks of the show’s new host Robert Irwin.
It was announced in October that the 20-year-old Wildlife Warrior had been chosen to replace Chris Brown as co-host alongside Julia Morris for the show’s milestone tenth season.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle about the casting decision, Liz admits she thinks Robert will be “fantastic” in the role and she can’t wait to tune in.
“It's like they got Chris Brown and shrunk him. Like, it’s just the same,” she laughs. “I think Robert Irwin is brilliant and Julia is there and she is just amazing.
“It can't be the same as the chemistry between Julia and Chris, that was a particular sort of humour, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what Julia and Robert come up with. I think it’ll be just a gorgeous sort of connection between them and I know that she's thrilled to be working with him. I don't know him at all, but he seems like a bloody delight so I can't wait to see how that goes.”

The Gladiators host went on to describe her experience in the jungle as “really transformative” and shared that she’s still close with all of her co-stars.
“We're still friends and we're all cheering for each other as we've gone on, like when Anna Polyviou was on Dessert Masters and Harry Garside qualified for the Olympics and Aesha Scott got named New Zealand’s TV Personality of the Year,” she details.
“So we're all sort of rooting for each other in our little WhatsApp group, it’s really nice.”
Liz Ellis shares her advice for the 2024 cast
After spending 28 days in the jungle last year, Liz says she has plenty of advice for the upcoming cast of celebrities.
“A couple of bits of advice that I got told before I went in which I was so grateful for - go off tea, coffee and sugar a couple of weeks before,” she shares.
“You don't want to be going through the withdrawals from that while you're in the jungle sleeping on a canvas bed with god knows what crawling around you at night, so I went off them beforehand and I didn't really suffer the down days in the jungle which was good.”

Liz also shares that her other big piece of advice would be to make a wise decision when choosing your pre-approved luxury item.
“I took my Pilates mat and it was a lifesaver because sitting on that hard log for 28 days was excruciating,” she recalls. “So I was so happy I had something soft to sit on and then I could stick it under my bed at night.
“So go off tea, coffee and sugar and take something soft.”
