Liam Payne's ex-girlfriend Danielle Peazer has penned a moving tribute to the late One Direction singer, expressing her grief over his tragic death last week.

Danielle, a professional dancer who met Liam on the set of The X-Factor and went on to date him from 2010 to 2013, shared a heartfelt letter she wrote for her ex and revealed the last message he had sent to her just a few weeks before his sudden death.

Liam fell from a third-floor balcony in Argentina on October 16, with preliminary autopsy findings revealing that Liam died from multiple injuries sustained in the fall, which led to "internal and external haemorrhaging", and a fractured skull. Alberto Crescenti, head of the Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services said Liam fell around '14 metres' from the hotel balcony, suffering 'very serious injuries incompatible with life'.

Danielle shared that she had heard from Liam a couple of weeks prior to his death, saying she'd 'cherish' their last exchange.

“Receiving a message from you a couple of weeks ago expressing your happiness for the love I found with Sonny and Mia is something I’ll cherish forever,” Danielle said, referencing her partner Sonny and their daughter Mia who they welcomed in May this year.

Danielle's letter to Liam went on to reference their time together as a couple but also the friendship they formed after the demise of their relationship.

"LJP, this doesn't feel real," she wrote. "Despite being aware of your struggles over the years, I hoped and prayed this day would never come, but now we're all facing the reality of living a life without your presence.

“Thank you for teaching me about the importance of setting boundaries, and that I should always protect my heart."

Much like Liam's other ex Cheryle Cole, Danielle urged fans to remember that Liam was more than just a celebrity and more than just his struggles over the years.

“Whilst we all take the time to navigate in a world without Liam, it’s important to remember that while he was adored by millions as a world-famous musician for the last decade, he was also someone’s son and brother for more than 30 years, a friend to so many and more recently an uncle,” she wrote.“His most important role and something he was the most proud of out of all of his monumental successes was that he was a father. The thought that there is a now a child growing up without one of their parents is heartbreaking and unfair."

Liam welcomed his son Bear, 7, with Cheryl in 2017, with Cheryl taking to Instagram over the weekend to also pen a tribute to the singer.

"As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I'd like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being," Cheryl wrote.

"Liam was not only a pop star and a celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.

"What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days. It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in the future."

She continued, "I am begging you to consider what use some of these reports are serving, other than to cause further harm to everyone left behind picking up the pieces. Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them.

"Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at least."
