Liam Payne's ex-fiancée Maya Henry, 23, is said to be in 'shock' after finding out about the One Direction star's death at 31, after he fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday afternoon.

A source close to Maya has told the Daily Mail that, 'right now, she is obviously in shock' and reportedly only found out about Liam's death when a member of her team was contacted by a reporter.

Authorities have released a statement about Liam's cause of death, with Alberto Crescenti, head of the Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services saying Liam fell around '14 metres', suffering 'very serious injuries incompatible with life'.

Liam began dating Maya in 2019, with the couple becoming engaged in August 2020 before breaking up in June 2021, and then reuniting later that year. The couple ended their engagement once again in May 2022.

Liam had confirmed one of their relationship breakups on The Diary of A CEO podcast in 2021, saying that he was "disappointed" in himself.

“I am indeed [single],” Liam said. “I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people. That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships.”

Earlier this month, Maya had instructed lawyers to issue a cease and desist letter to Liam after accusing him of 'repeatedly contacting her' with lawyers for the star telling Daily Mail, "Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information. She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter."

Maya had previously shared a TikTok saying that ever since the two broke up, Liam would 'blow up' her phone.
