Kyle Sandilands' unexpected gesture for struggling family: 'Made me cry'

Controversial radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands has made a heartwarming gesture for a struggling family, after a listener called in to win money during a segment on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Rhiannon shared with Kyle and Jackie O Henderson that her parents were going through a tough time financially, with her dad out of work and her mum not able to pick up more hours at her job. The aim of the game was that for every question Rhiannon got right, she'd win $100, and if she got 10 questions right, she'd get $10k. However, while Jackie was explaining the rules, Kyle interjected, saying, "Actually, if you answer the next question right, I myself, will personally buy your parents a car."

The question given to Rhiannon was, "Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy are all characters created by which cartoon company?" The answer, of course, was Disney.

After Rhiannon answered the question correctly, Kyle confirmed he'd buy her mum and dad a brand-new car. Rhiannon told her dad, Craig, the news before he came to the phone saying, "You don't have to do that, there's a hell of a lot more people out there struggling more than us."

"She played the game, she won, I'll buy the car," Kyle said, to Craig's teary "Thank you".

Listeners praise Kyle and Jackie O for good deed

There wasn't a dry eye in the house, on Instagram, or TikTok with people flocking to the comments to praise Kyle (and Jackie by default) for making this family's day.

"You are the most awesome bloke I’ve ever seen. You have the biggest heart you do the most beautiful things of people," one fan said.

"This made me cry 😢 yes he may have a lot of money but he’s also got an even bigger heart! He’s always been generous because he knows how it feels to have nothing," another person commented. 'Selfless people get blessed more because they continue to give, he worked his way up in life… admirable."

Others also pointed out the kindhearted nature of Rhiannon's dad, Craig.

"Bro's struggling and still thought on the people possibly out there worse off. Legend Aussie," one person said. "The most wonderful part of this was the Dad saying they are worse off people," another agreed.
