Kyle Sandilands skips work one day after bombshell on-air confession

Kyle Sandilands has failed to show up for work one day after announcing his split with his girlfriend of eight years, Imogen Anthony.

The 48-year-old shock jock was a no-show on his KIIS FM radio program, The Kyle and Jackie O Show, on Wednesday morning, seemingly leaving co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson in the lurch.

Kyle was taking a sick day his reps confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle, with ex-NRL player and The Amazing Race host Beau Ryan filling in for the newly-single star.

‘It’s run its course’

The outspoken host of Trial By Kyle appeared very emotional on-air yesterday morning as he confirmed that he and model Imogen had broken up after eight years together.

“We haven’t been living with each other for quite a few months now, unfortunately, it’s run its course,” he began.

“Just when you start to think everything’s good...” he continued, choking up.

He told co-host Jackie, who recently separated from her husband Lee Henderson, that while there were ‘no problems’ between the two, they ‘won’t be going into any detail about anything’.

The announcement of their split today comes just days after Imogen stepped out dressed as Marge Simpson sans Kyle for a Halloween party in LA.

“While Homey is at work. Kyle was doing Homer but had to stay in Australia,” she captioned one of the pics from the event on her Instagram page.

“Did Kyle go as Homer? As that is couple goals,” asked one fan int he comments.“He was but had to stay!” Imogen replied, adding a sad face emoji.

Imogen clapped back at another curious fan who asked about her partner’s absence, claiming that they were ‘looking into this too much’.

On the same day that Kyle announced they’d called it quits, Imogen posted several videos showing her partying it up with pals including American rapper Brooke Candy at LA’s Regent Theater.

Kyle and Imogen’s relationship timeline

Kyle and Imogen began dating in 2011 after meeting at Kyle’s 40th birthday, and two years ago they bought a farm in the NSW town of Robertson, said to be worth $3 million.

In 2018, they invited MTV Cribs into their Mosman home, revealing the extravagance that is their personal five-bedroom playground.

With a special private cinema, an over-the-top dresser and walk-in wardrobe for Imogen, a luxe master bedroom complete with Versace interior decor and a ‘Hollywood-style en suite and spa’, the KIIS FM host’s abode definitely met his self-appointed ‘King Kyle’ title.

Also in 2018, Imogen told news.com.au that as Kyle got older she felt she needed to take care of him and didn’t think they could “live without each other”.

Kyle addressed the pair’s 20-year age gap in 2014, telling news.com.au that it wasn’t a problem and ‘made no difference’ to him.

Earlier this year, however, New Idea claimed the couple had been ‘living separate lives for a while’ to which Imogen responded by uploading a snap of her straddling Kyle on a couch - the final photo of the two together she’s shared to date.

It’s been a hectic few weeks for Kyle, who’s new show Trial By Kyle was ridiculed online when it debuted at the end of October.

It came after the radio host took to the airwaves on KIIS 106.5 to apologise over an offensive joke he made regarding Virgin Mary.
