Anna Heinrich speaks out on 'polarising' Kyle Sandilands
Trial by Kyle’s Anna Heinrich has set the record straight less than a week after her co-star Kyle Sandilands branded her ‘vanilla’ and ‘boring’ on national TV.
In an exclusive chat with Yahoo Lifestyle at the launch of her new Bras N Things campaign ‘Enchanted,’ Anna, 32, opens up about her feelings toward Kyle and admits that despite him being a ‘very polarising person’ there’s no bad blood between the two.
In fact, the former Bachelor contestant says she was ‘left in awe’ of the ‘intelligent’ and ‘caring’ 48-year-old radio host.
Trial By Kyle host ‘polarising’
Anna, who provides legal advice alongside ‘judge’ Kyle on Channel 10’s six-part series, goes on to sing his praises and reveals he exceeded any expectations she had prior to joining Trial By Kyle.
“I didn’t know him very well before, I’d been on his radio station a handful of times and I’ve obviously heard a lot about him,” she says.
“He’s a very... what do they say, he’s a very polarising person and then I got in there and I was like, ‘this guy is incredible’,” she adds.
According to Anna, there are ‘a lot of things that people don’t know’ about Kyle and calls him ‘very intelligent’ and ‘very caring’ which is at odds with his well-known shock-jock persona.
“A lot of people give him a hard time but he’s actually a really great guy,” she adds.
In fact, there were moments during filming that Anna felt she was playing the ‘bad guy’ while delivering her legal opinion.
“I was thinking at points that I was harder [on contestants] than him because I was telling it how it was and what the law was, and he actually felt for people and he brought emotion to it,” she explains.
Kyle slams ‘boring’ Anna
Anna’s glowing endorsement of her co-star comes after Kyle unleashed a scathing character assessment on the criminal lawyer during an appearance on The Project on October 25.
“You’ve got beautiful vanilla boring Anna over there, the criminal lawyer, very nice chick, boring though!” he said.
“She helps out with the legal things,” he added.
For her part, Anna says Kyle “was very good, very intelligent and quick-witted so I was kind of in awe”.
“I really got along with Kyle and I really enjoyed working with him,” she adds.
Anna ready for round two
Anna also reveals that she’s ready and willing to sign on for a second season of Trial By Kyle if it’s on the cards.
“I would love to see it go again because I just enjoy doing it, I enjoy being there. The cases are so varied, they’re so entertaining and we were laughing from start to finish,” she says.
Whether the series will be renewed remains to be seen - the premiere was savaged online, with people left scratching their heads about why Kyle was playing a judge.
If season two fails to eventuate, it’s likely to be no skin off Kyle’s nose at least considering the staggering pay packet he and co-host Jackie O secured this year.
Anna’s big year
To say Anna has had a big year would be an understatement. Between Trial By Kyle, having ‘a lot of fun on’ Channel Seven’s Dirty Dancing, her very first modelling stint with Bras N Things and upcoming spring racing appearances - and a ‘few other bits and pieces’ - she’s barely had a breather.
Anna tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she’s ‘so excited’ to be wrapping up an extremely busy 2019 with some well-deserved R&R with her husband Tim Robards.
Once Tim finishes up his acting stint on Neighbours in November, the love birds - who tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in southern Italy last year - are set to jet off to another destination wedding.
This time it’s Anna’s sister who’ll be saying ‘I do’ in Mexico, while her other sister is expecting her first child around Christmas.
“I’m going to be an aunty!” Anna squeals.
