Krysten Ritter says a Jessica Jones return 'would be so lovely'

"I also have been in a lot of projects that come back, so you never know," the actress said.

Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin have been popping up here and there in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the past few years, but in 2025 they'll finally get their own show when Daredevil: Born Again premieres in March. That raises the question if other superhero characters from the related Defenders shows (like Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Danny Rand/Iron Fist) might also return to screens in the future.

So far, there's been no official announcement, or even an end-credits teaser, to suggest as much. But in a recent interview, Ritter said that she was open to a potential revival of Jessica Jones.

“It’s a character that I adore and love so much so you never know," Ritter told Entertainment Tonight at a red carpet event for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. "I mean, it would be so lovely.”

Ritter also made the point that a potential Jessica Jones revival wouldn't be the first time she's reprised a role years later in her career.

"I also have been in a lot of projects that come back, so you never know," Ritter said. "[With] Breaking Bad, I did El Camino, [and] Veronica Mars."

But she's not in a rush either. Ritter added, "I've been open since it ended, but I'm also so thrilled to be doing Sonic and all the other projects I'm doing."

Based on the Marvel comics character created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos, Jessica Jones starred Ritter as the titular private investigator who is gifted with super-strength. In season 1 of the show (which originally streamed on Netflix, but has now moved over to Disney+ and Hulu), Jones fought against the telepathic villain Kilgrave (David Tennant), who had previously held her under his thrall in a clear allegory for prolonged sexual abuse.

In season 2, she dealt with the unexpected return of her mother (Janet McTeer), who also had super-strength and who Jones had previously believed to be dead. Season 3 revolved around the transformation of Jones' best friend Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) into the vigilante Hellcat. ForThe Defenders, she teamed up with Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil to defeat the evil mystical organization known as the Hand.

These days, Ritter can be seen as Director Rockwell of the Guardian Units of Nations (G.U.N.) in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. She also recently starred on Orphan Black: Echoes, another revival series — though she did not appear in the original version of that one.
