Kelly Clarkson Goes Barefoot for Jim Gaffigan Interview — and He Has Thoughts

The comedian said that there's a "portion of the internet" that may enjoy Clarkson's sans shoes segment

Kelly Clarkson interviewed Jim Gaffigan without shoes — and the comedian had thoughts.

During the Tuesday, Jan. 7 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Gaffigan, 58, called out Clarkson, 42, for showing up to the taping barefoot. “What is going on with the feet?” he asked while Clarkson tried to wish him a happy new year.

He then joked in a high-pitched voice about why Clarkson might be walking around without any shoes on. “I feel more grounded when I sing if I’m barefoot," he mocked. "I can feel the ground."

The American Idol alum laughed, agreeing with Gaffigan. "I do like performing barefoot, but that’s not why I’m barefoot," she explained before getting into her relatable reason to kick off her shoes. "My feet hurt."

"The stilettos I was supposed to wear today, I didn’t have enough middle fingers for it… so I just said no. I’ve never gone barefoot before, but that’s OK. That’s what we’re doing."

Gaffigan, whose latest comedy special The Skinny dropped on Hulu in November, didn’t agree. “For me, first of all, I wouldn’t have my feet exposed because I respect the audience,” he said, to which Clarkson exclaimed "and I don’t."

She's also open to baring it all. In December, Clarkson boasted that she loves being naked. "Until gravity takes hold," the "Since U Been Gone" singer clarified.
