Kate Middleton 'really upset' over 'hugely stressful' relationship with Harry and Meghan

Kate Middleton has reportedly been "really, really upset" over the royal family's continued strained relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

An insider claims the Duchess of Cambridge has found it "tough" to see her husband, Prince William, "so distraught" over his relationship with his brother.

"Everything with Harry and Meghan has been hugely stressful, but if anything, it's pulled [her and William] closer together," a source told People .

"She was upset about it because [William] was so upset."

During a recent royal outing at a school, Kate was quick to change the subject when one of the students asked about Meghan and Harry.

"What else?" was her response.

While things already seemed strained before Harry and Meghan decided to leave their senior roles in the royal family and move to the US, things got even worse after the couple made headlines earlier this year when they claimed a senior royal voiced concerns over their son Archie's skin tone before he was born.

At the time, William made a very rare public statement during a royal outing of his own saying: "We are very much not a racist family".

It come as reports suggest Harry and Meghan will not be spending Christmas with the rest of the royal family in the UK, and will instead head to their mansion in Montecito, California.

Insiders claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex turned down an invitation to spend the festive period with the Queen and other family members, mostly to avoid the media scrutiny.

"There's a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming. If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now," a source told Page Six.

It would no doubt be a blow for the Queen, who has yet to meet Harry and Meghan's second child Lilibet, as well as getting through her first holiday season without husband Prince Philip.

The Queen has already had to cancel a pre-Christmas lunch this week as the UK battles its way through another Covid spike.
