On Sunday, Feb, 2, Jon Batiste and his wife Suleika Jaouad skipped the 2025 Grammy Awards, where they were awarded with best music film and best song written for visual media for the documentary American Symphony.
The couple, who tied the knot in February 2022, shared a joint Instagram post celebrating their wins.
"On this lazy Sunday, life is good!" Batiste and Jaouad, 36, wrote in the caption, alongside a photo of them together. "We’re so honored to win the Grammy for Best Music Film (and also for Song Written For Visual Media too!). We couldn’t make it to the ceremony but we’re beaming love from our couch to yours, and sending gratitude to all who made this film possible."
In December 2024, Jaoud revealed she discovered she had cancer for "the third time," noting in an Instagram post that her "health was in flux."
"I felt healthier than ever only to learn my leukemia was back," she wrote. "I had to adjust to a grueling monthly chemo regimen. My dad stepped in as my caregiver and I’ve cherished our one-on-one time."
She added: "And then there’s my greatest joy — my husband @jonbatiste who’s been by my side at every turn on the roller coaster. I didn’t know a love like this was possible. He makes everything better."
