‘Jeopardy!’ Player and Céline Dion Fan Walks Off After Flunking Question on Star
A Jeopardy! player walked off stage in embarrassment after missing a Céline Dion question just moments after proclaiming himself a fan of the singer.
Contestant and fan-favorite Drew Goins failed Dion in Jeopardy!’s 2025 Champions Wildcard tournament Friday after missing a question about one of her hit songs.
Goins began the game by thanking her in a shout-out, to which host Ken Jennings responded by asking if she even knew what she did for him.
“Oh, she does,” Goins, the Hawaii-based journalist, responded. “Deep down.”
Goins, however, ended up leaving in embarrassment after not knowing the answer to the prompt: “Sharing its title with an earlier, more upbeat Huey Lewis hit, it was No. 1 for Céline Dion in 1994.”
The $2000 question, from category “‘90s No. 1 Hits,” stumped all of the players, none of whom buzzed in.
“Oh, she’s going to be mad, Drew,” Jennings said.
With a shocked and stressed look, Goins pretended to show himself the door. Seconds later, he came back, hugging one of his fellow contestants and returning to his podium.
“Like Huey Lewis, Céline Dion sang a song called ‘The Power of Love,’” said Jennings.
His excuse? “I was born in 1994!”
Goins ended up taking second place in the game, winning a $40,000 prize.
“Here’s hoping Drew’s heart will go on,” posted the game show on Instagram, poking fun at the contestant.
“This was the funniest Jeopardy moment,” wrote one commenter. “Drew is/was an awesome contestant.”
“Well, now he has to come back to make it up to Celine,” another said. “Love Drew!”
