Jennifer Lopez Honors Hairstylist Chris Appleton at the WWD Style Awards 2025

Jennifer Lopez made a surprise appearance via video at the 2025 WWD Style Awards, held in Los Angeles on Friday at the Four Seasons. The star presented hairstylist and her longtime collaborator Chris Appleton with one of the night’s honors.

“What can I say about Chris Appleton? We’ve created so many amazing looks together. He is kind and collaborative and creative,” Lopez said in a pre-recorded video. “He is always up for ‘let’s do something new,’ from short hairstyles to long hairstyles, color, everything. He’s just always up to experiment. He really is an incredibly creative and one of the best hairdressers I’ve ever, ever had the privilege to work with.”

Appleton notably styled Lopez’s hair for her wedding to Ben Affleck in July 2022 and for her Super Bowl Halftime performance in 2020. As a celebrity hairstylist, he has also worked with Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Christina Aguilera, Camila Cabello and others.

During the 2025 WWD Style Awards, Appleton received the Hairstylist Award.

“I’m really grateful to receive this award, and it’s funny because I’m kind of 360 right now. I’ve been, since a young age, helping people transform from the outside, starting with my mom from the U.K. And it was always really powerful for me to see how great hair can really make a big difference,” Appleton said in his acceptance speech.

“I’m actually really excited because I’ve been working on something that will help a lot more people feel like they can have that transformation process on the outside, but I think more importantly, from the inside out. I’m so excited to share that, and I’m just really honest. Thank you all and my team. Everyone supports me as well,” he said.

Women’s Wear Daily honored the fashion and beauty tastemakers, muses and legends whose creativity, craft and style create magic on the red carpet at the inaugural WWD Style Awards presented Friday in Los Angeles. Honorees included Tracee Ellis Ross, Anna Sawai, Wes Gordon, Kate Young, Chris Appleton, Pati Dubroff, Iván Pol and Jamie Taylor.
