Jelly Roll Reveals Major Career Move in Special New 'First-Ever' Position

Jelly Roll is taking on an exciting challenge, announcing his special new position as part of the popular competition show American Idol.

The show shared the big news with fans on Feb. 4, revealing in a fun video that Jelly Roll will be the "first-ever Artist in Residence" for the new season of the long-running series.

In the clip, host Ryan Seacrest greeted Jelly Roll as he walked up to him for a hug, with the country singer surprising Seacrest when he lifted and spun him around in excitement.

"I'm American Idol's Artist in Residence!" shouted Jelly Roll, with Seacrest saying of the new role, "You're shaping America's future." Jelly Roll went on, "I feel like I'm giving them the energy they need. I'm uplifting and trying to get 'em goin'!"

Fans were just as happy about the development, with the comments filled with encouraging and excited notes, such as one who said, "WOOHOO!! LOVE ME SOME JELLY ROLL!!! Looking forward to seeing you this season!! Thank you American Idol!!!"

Others said, "I can't wait to see Jelly's fun antics with Luke😂❤," "YEAH YEAH YEAH," and "Love Jelly Roll!❤️."

Jelly Roll's new position will reportedly start during the new season's Hollywood Week. ABC told Variety that from then, the musician will become “a permanent fixture this season and will work closely with the Idol hopefuls, giving them firsthand advice on how to navigate the journey.”

Last season of American Idol, Jelly Roll was a guest mentor and performer during the series' time at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawai’i.

The singer recently announced another exciting new career venture as well, as Jelly Roll will be acting in an April episode of the scripted show Fire Country.
