Jack Vidgen made a triumphant return to the stage during his audition for The Voice Australia.

However his return to the spotlight has come with it’s share of public scrutiny, and now friends of the star have revealed they are worried about the 22-year-old.

A close source has told Woman’s Day that fears are growing among his inner circle that the public backlash about his transformation is weighing on the young singer.

“He's a lot tougher than he was when he became well known at 14, but the negative attention is starting to remind him of all the bad things he couldn't handle about fame the first time around,” the insider told the publication.

The source also claims Jack may struggle to tell the difference between his real friends, and “leeches” - who weren’t there when times were tough, like when he had to have a brain tumour removed.

“All of a sudden they want to hang out with him, they want to be followed by him on social media, they're inviting him to party with them,” says the insider.

Old wounds

Jack Vidgen recently opened up about why he left the country soon after shooting to fame as a teenager.

“Everything blew up so much I was just like, ‘I need to get out of here, I’m going to LA’, and that was that,” the now 22-year-old told news.com.au, ahead of his highly praised The Voice audition.

“I was 16, I left everyone behind me and I isolated myself in a way, I kind of cut people out of my life. I blocked out my family, I blocked out my friends.”

However, the overseas stay wasn’t to last and Jack later admitted his stint in Tinseltown eventually caused him to fall out of love with music.

Public backlash over transformation

When it was first revealed Jack was making a return to our screens, viewers quickly questioned just how different he looks.

He eventually came out to confirm his lip fillers and admitted they might be throwing people off, but despite speculation to the contrary, he actually hadn’t had any surgery.

“I've never had plastic surgery or any surgery,” he told the Daily Telegraph, adding, “It's pretty obvious I've had my lips done with fillers”.

“These types of things [fillers] are common now, especially for people my age - it's not a big deal”.

Blew the judges away on The Voice

Jack Vidgen made a big return to the spotlight after stunning The Voice judges in his blind audition.

Both Australian coaches - Guy Sebastian and Delta Goodrem - quickly recognised the former Australia’s Got Talent winner’s pipes before yelling a congratulatory ‘Jack!' at the end of the act.

Jack has all four judges - including Boy George and Kelly Rowland - to choose from before joining Guy Sebastian’s team for the next stages of the competition, which kick off this week.
