Former child star Jack Vidgen is set to make his big television return on Sunday night when he auditions on The Voice.

And while he’s recently been speaking about the time he took out from the spotlight after winning Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, some fans may not know the health issues he faced during that time.

The now 22-year-old had a brain tumour removed back in 2014 after it was found behind his eye.

“I have been trying to decide whether to go public with this. But you guys have been a big part of the last 3 years of my life so here it is,” Jack wrote on his Facebook page at the time, informing fans of his condition.

"First off I had to have an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging scan) on Monday - it showed there was a mass lesion (tumour) behind my eye. I then saw an ocular plastic surgeon who said it had to come out urgently.”

After his first surgery, he informed fans that he’d have to go back again as the tumour potentially wasn’t completely removed.

“If it is not then the possibility of what's left inside turning nasty is high,” he wrote.

“So it looks like I'll have to go back in for surgery again.”

The entertainer recovered well, and fast forward five years and he’s back in the limelight.

Jack is set to appear on The Voice this weekend after saying he took time out from showbiz to focus on growing up as a normal teenager.

Earlier this week he admitted he’d gone through a period of feeling lost and “trying to find myself again” after winning Australia’s Got Talent back in 2011 at the age of 14.

He said this compelled him to change his appearance and try lip fillers.

“That’s the thing with me over the years I’ve been looking for my identity,” he told Who magazine.

“I’ve been trying to find myself again and I’ve definitely experimented with filler... there’s no denying that.”

“To me, lip filler is like makeup, it’s like doing your hair... it’s not permanent,” he said.
