The Bachie stars are about to undertake a renovation that would make The Block proud.
Move over The Bachelor — Laura Byrne and Matty 'J' Johnston are about to take inspiration from The Block, after purchasing a $2 million rundown home on the New South Wales South Coast.
Expanding their multi-million property portfolio, the couple have purchased a new home in Ulladulla, just down the road from Cupitts Estate winery where they got married in 2022.
Inside Laura Byrne and Matty J's new renovation challenge
The new home boasts three bedrooms and two bathrooms split across two levels and is set atop a clifftop with stunning ocean views. The house is set on 746 square metres, looking down onto Racecourse beach.
The house is nicknamed Chante-Mer which is French for 'sing the sea' and according to the Daily Telegraph the couple paid a neat $2.19 million for the new digs, with it last having been sold in 1984 for $62,500.

Move over Bachie, hello The Block
OK, so while we may not see the power couple on The Block anytime soon, they're planning to completely overhaul the house after it's been left unattended for over two years and have set up an Instagram page for their followers to be able to keep up to date with their renovation journey.
"A couple of months ago we bought a dilapidated old house down the south coast. A little glass house on the seaside filled with stories, and history that had been left locked up and empty for the past two years, known as Chante Mer (sing the sea)," Laura wrote on Instagram.

"The south coast is a magical place to us, it’s where we got married, and now it’s where we will make memories as a family. We don’t know what we are doing, or what this house will become, but if you want to follow along the chaos @chante.mer.house while we restore this old beauty, honour its joyous little quirks and resist the millennial urge to paint everything white."
The couple currently reside in a four-bedroom house in North Bondi, which they bought for $5.2 million in 2023, and they also own a $1.8 million holiday house near Byron Bay.
