Hunted Australia fans call out 'ridiculous' detail in dramatic finale: 'Absolute bulls**t'
Fans are all asking the same question following Sunday night’s finale.
Hunted Australia came to a dramatic end on Sunday evening with the final two teams racing to the extraction point in the hopes of winning over $100,000 each. The heart-pounding Channel 10 series began with nine teams of everyday Australians, aka the Fugitives, robbing a bank with $1 million up for grabs before attempting to spend 20 days on the run evading the highly-skilled group of Hunters.
The Hunters managed to capture best friends Romanee Virgara and Chelsea Hancock right before extraction, leaving Andy and Deb Dunt as the only team left in the competition. The married couple had managed to stay off the Hunters’ radar for the majority of the game, moving every 24 hours, routinely swapping vehicles, and relying on the kindness of strangers.
Andy and Deb carefully planned to arrive at the extraction point of Gem Pier in Williamstown with only a few minutes left on the clock but were shocked to see Hunters Kim and Howie waiting for them on the pier. Deb tried to side-step them to reach the extraction boat, however, she was captured in the final minutes of the run.

As the sole player left in the game, Andy quickly decided to dive into the water and swim to the boat. He then sped off to safety with his share of the cash - $51,500 - and was declared the sole winner of season three.
“I was disappointed that I wasn’t on the boat with Deb because we really hoped to be there together, but it was a huge relief that, as a team, we had done it. We put so much effort in and had such a great time,” Andy said following his win.
Viewers point out bizarre detail
While fans were thrilled with Andy’s “genius” decision to jump in the water, many people questioned why the Hunters didn’t follow suit.
“I’m curious, were the Ground Hunters allowed to get in the water?” one person asked, while another added, “Absolute bulls**t. Why didn't the Hunters jump in the water too?”.
“Surely someone could have jumped into the water,” a third agreed, followed by someone else who remarked, “Disappointed that the Hunters were too scared to jump in the water”.
“I just re-watched the end bit and they said they aren't allowed on the boat but nothing about jumping in the water to catch him. Surely the Hunters could have jumped in towards the end of the pier just in front of the boat?” a different user pointed out.
Fans share their theories
Viewers subsequently took to the comments to share their theories on why the Hunters didn’t jump in the water, with plenty of social media users convinced that it was simply “against the rules”.
“I'd say they weren’t allowed to enter the water,” a fan replied, with another adding, “I did hear Kim say they weren't allowed to go onto the boat, so maybe it was a no to jumping into the water too”.
“Even if they jumped in to swim, they wouldn’t have caught up with him as he already managed to get some distance and they probably didn’t expect anyone to jump into the water,” someone else shared.
“They've got electronic devices and earpieces they're not gonna jump in,” another said, while a different user commented, “Could be the Hunters had other gear on them that they couldn’t get wet”.

Regardless of why the Hunters didn’t jump in the water, fans were thrilled by how the season ended and labelled it the “best finale yet”.
Andy’s win marks the first time only one person has reached the extraction point on Hunted Australia after Robert ‘Rob’ Harneiss and Stathi Vamvoulidis won season one and James ‘Jimi’ Love and Holly Colvin won season two.
