Home and Away stars support Emily Weir's big career move: 'F**K YES'

Home and Away’s Emily Weir (Mackenzie Booth) is known for her big personality and killer dance moves — and now she’s going to get to dance up a storm on Dancing with the Stars. Following in the footsteps of Summer Bay legends Lynne McGranger (Irene Roberts) and Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson), the bubbly brunette will be dancing with professional dancer Lyu Masuda.

Fans have already seen the star learning salsa from Laura Vazquez (Sarah Thompson) in a behind-the-scenes video, as well as participating in a simple Irish jig for St Patrick’s Day.

On Friday, she shared a snap of the full Dancing with the Stars cast on Instagram with a simple caption. “Ummm - it’s happening!” Emily wrote.

The fan favourite also posted a video of Lyu showing off his strength, demonstrating how he can hold his entire body parallel to the ground on a street sign pole.

“Go! Wow, oh my God. That’s so good,” she gushes in the video, before Lyu starts laughing.

“He’s talented, he’s hot, he’s mine. He’s my dance partner in crime,” she added.

It comes as no surprise that her current and former co-stars are rooting for Emily to take home the mirrorball trophy, with Sophie Dillman (Ziggy Astoni) sharing the cast announcement to her story, simply writing “F**K YES @weir.emily”.

Sophie, who has affectionately referred to Emily as her ‘work wife’ in the past, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she’s overjoyed for her close friend.

“She is an absolute dancing queen and I can’t wait to see her shine,” the actress says.

Others shared the love on social media, with Ada telling Emily to “break a leg”.

“Sooooooo excited!!!!! She’s going to slaaaaaayyyyyy,” Sarah Roberts (Willow Harris) commented.

“Ooooosh @weir.emily show them what you got!” added Ethan Browne (Tane Parata).

“Rooting for the star that is @weir.emily!!!!” Kirsty Marillier (Rose Delaney) exclaimed.

Fans were excited by the news, but a few wondered if this could signal that Emily’s time on Home and Away is coming to an end. The show has been hit with a string of high-profile exits over the past year, losing Sophie and Patrick O’Connor (Dean Thompson), Kawakawa Fox-Reo (Nikau Parata), Lukas Radovich (Ryder Jackson) and Courtney Miller (Bella Nixon).

However, Ada competed on the dance show for a second time in 2021, and producers were able to make the schedule work without her having to quit the show.

A Seven spokesperson has confirmed that Emily Weir is still filming Home and Away.
