Eagle-eyed fans of Home and Away have been having a ball making jokes about a very puzzling detail in the long-running soap. Taking to a Facebook group dedicated to the show, one viewer made a comment about a curious decision made by Irene Roberts (played by Lynne McGranger), opening the floodgates for others to share their hilarious observations.

Referencing the character's job as co-owner of the Pier Diner (with Leah Patterson), the poster shared a photo of Irene with the quote: "Can I go out around lunchtime, Irene? Sure, Leah! It’s probably our busiest time of day at the diner but whatever." The post quickly generated several comments from other viewers who found the whole thing very odd and amusing.

"What about the lunch rush?" one viewer quipped as another replied, "Exactly!"

"Don't worry about it Leah go out at lunch time, poor Irene will do the lunch rush," sympathised another. "Poor Irene does anything for anyone."

Other viewers took the opportunity to share the odd things they had noticed, such as some 'editing fails' and the fact that Leah and Irene seem to lack some business sense (and coffee-making skills).

"Lol I love how all the staff just walk out whenever they wanted," another laughed. "In the real world they’d be fired."

"They never talk to the hired help in the dinner and you never see them making the food orders," someone else noted.

"I don't think anything in the diner works and the cups are empty," a different person added. "People don't need food, water, tea or coffee anymore."

Perhaps it's a good thing that the customers don't need tea or coffee as it could be the case that Irene doesn't know how to make them!

"I noticed her making a coffee in the diner last night, no steam, 🤣 empty cups 🤣," a viewer wrote.

"Maybe it was iced coffee?" the original poster very kindly suggested.

"Nope, she was at the cappuccino machine 🤣," was the reply.

In other news, viewers have been spotting more than just plot holes and continuity errors with a fan recently spying an ex-Home and Away star in blockbuster movie The Fall Guy.

Tim Franklin, who played Colby Thorne on the soap from 2018 to 2021, had a small speaking role in the film and his cameo was clocked by the eagle-eyed fan who quickly took to social media to share their excitement.

“Squealed in the middle of the cinema when I saw Tim Franklin in the new movie The Fall Guy alongside Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling,” they wrote.

He played the role of LA Bro who recognised Ryan’s character Colt Seavers at a valet. “This dude was on a movie I was on,” he said in the film. “He had the most epic fail I’ve ever seen!”

Other Home and Away fans were quick to comment, with one saying: “Watched it and didn’t notice him.”

“I had to look twice but it’s definitely him and I’m so proud of him,” another wrote.
