Harry and Meghan's surprising first home: 'No one would believe it'
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have joked about the first royal home they shared together in the latest volume of their tell-all docuseries. The Sussexes revealed while they did live on palace grounds, the reality was completely different to what outsiders would expect.
Prior to getting married in 2018, the couple lived in Nottingham Cottage, which is situated on the grounds of Kensington Palace. This was their first royal home before moving to Frogmore Cottage In Windsor.
In the docuseries the pair joked about Kensington Cottage, saying it was "so small" and not the luxurious setting you would expect from a royal.
"As far as people were concerned, we were living in a palace," Harry said. "And we were, in a cottage..."
"On palace grounds," Meghan chimes in.
"Kensington Palace sounds very regal, of course it does," she added. "It says 'palace' in the name ... but Nottingham Cottage was so small."

Describing the cottage, Harry said "the whole thing's on a slight lean" and it had "really low ceilings".
"I don't know who was there before, they must have been very short," he joked as Meghan said Harry would constantly hit his head.
"It was just a chapter in our lives where I don't think anyone could believe what it was actually like behind the scenes," she added.
The couple then shared an anecdote about Oprah Winfrey visiting the cottage. When she gave the cottage a once over she said to the royals, "No one would ever believe it".
Harry's panic after text from Prince William
The documentary showed Meghan sitting at her computer talking to her friend Tyler Perry on the phone following their tell-all interview with Oprah in 2021 where they made racism claims about the royals.
Meghan is reading out a statement from the royal family that says: "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning."
As Meghan reads out the end of the statement saying the issue will be addressed privately, Harry is seen nearby with his eyes fixed on his phone as he bites his fingernails.
Without saying anything he walks over the Meghan and shows her his phone while he is visibly upset.
"What am I looking at?" she asks before realising he is showing her a text message he received from his brother Prince William.
