Half the Couples From ‘The Ultimatum’ Season 3 Broke Up by 2025, but Half Are Still Going Strong
Netflix’s The Ultimatum returned for season 3, and it’s the chaotic dating show we never knew we needed. But which of The Ultimatum season 3 couples are still together now? The series follows six couples (one more than the last season), and the experiment is simple. One member of each pair has given the the other an ultimatum: Get married or break up. During the experiment, the couples break up and enter into “trial marriages” with other contestants to see if they’re ready for marriage and also to test their bond with their original partner.
Season 3 aired in December 2024, so who is still together come 2025? As a reminder, the six couples who entered The Ultimatum together were:
Sandy and Nick
Zaina and J.R.
Micah and Chanel
Vanessa and Dave
Scotty and Aria
Mariah and Caleb

Micah and Chanel
Relationship status: Still together
After 27-year-old Chanel issued 28-year-old Micah with an ultimatum after two and a half years together, the pair appeared on the show ready to take on the experiment. During the trial marriages, Micah was paired up with Mariah and Chanel was paired up with Dave, but it was clear from the start that things weren’t going smoothly.
“Tonight is awkward,” Micah said about his first night with Mariah. “With Chanel, it’s never awkward. She’s the person that I can’t wait to see every day.”
Micah and Chanel then met up in secret and decided to leave the experiment together, leaving Mariah single. Meanwhile, Chanel’s trial husband, Dave, and his original partner, Vanessa, also decided to leave the experiment together.
On the day of the show premiering, Micah and Chanel shared a joint Instagram post with photos of them in a hotel corridor with the caption, “🖤 @ultimatumnetflix S3.” She also commented on one of his Instagram posts with “Mine 🤍😏💋,” which suggests these two are very much still together, although it’s unclear if they’ve married.
Vanessa and Dave
Relationship status: Still together
Vanessa, 30, issued her partner Dave, 34, an ultimatum before they entered into the experiment, asking him to either marry her or break up.
During the trial marriages, Vanessa was paired up with Nick, while Dave was paired up with Chanel. Even so, it was clear they remained each other’s priority after they met up in secret during the trial and decided to leave the whole experiment together.
Since the show has aired, Vanessa has taken to Instagram to share her side of the story, replying to a fan comment asking why she left: “I know I just had to do what was best for my mental health. You’re only seeing 1%.”
In response to another comment asking whether she had apologized to her trial husband Nick for leaving, she explained, “You don’t know what happened behind scenes. I have nothing to apologize for. I will likely talk more about it at some point soon, but there is only so much I can say. I’ll add more context after the reunion.”
The pair did show up for the reunion and revealed they have been talking about the possibility of getting engaged, with Vanessa saying they’ve shopped for rings.
Mariah and Caleb
Relationship status: Still together
Mariah, 24, issued Caleb, 29, with an ultimatum, telling the camera, “I want to experience as much of the love as I possibly can fit into my lifetime. I would love forever to start right now,” while Caleb was cautious of rushing things.
During their trial marriages, Caleb was paired up with Aria while Mariah was paired up with Micah—who decided to leave the experiment with his original partner, leaving Mariah single.
After Caleb’s successful trial marriage with Aria, Mariah felt jealous and grilled him on what happened, especially because she had been spending so much time on her own. The pair hit a rocky patch but tried to work through things, with Caleb telling Mariah on the final night, “There’s something [about] the way you make me feel in our relationship that I’ve never felt before. It is hard to think that this could end everything.”
During the ultimatum decision, the couple ended up getting engaged and are still together now in 2025. At the reunion, the pair revealed they are planning a wedding in the spring or summer of 2026 in Hawaii.
The Ultimatum season 3 couples who broke up
Sandy and Nick
Relationship status: Not together
Nick, 38, and Sandy, 27, had one of the most tumultuous journeys during the The Ultimatum season 3. The pair entered the experiment after two and a half years together because Nick issued the ultimatum and wanted to get married, but Sandy was not ready for that step in her mid-20s.
During their trial marriages, Sandy recoupled with J.R. and Nick paired up with Vanessa but was left single when Vanessa decided to secretly leave the experiment with her original partner, Dave.
As a result, Nick became increasingly jealous of his ex-partner’s connection with J.R. because he felt like she was “getting her cake and eating it” despite Nick being the one who issued the ultimatum in the first place. Sandy accused Nick of being “possessive and controlling” of her by constantly trying to be in contact with her, while she also shared two kisses with her trial husband.
Before the ultimatum decision, the pair seemed to be trying to make their relationship work, but it wasn’t enough. Nick and Sandy decided to walk away from the experiment single. During the reunion, Nick revealed he is now seeing someone else while Sandy remains single.
Zaina and J.R.
Relationship status: Not together
J.R., 33, and his partner Zaina, 32, also entered into the experiment after three years together, with her issuing him with the ultimatum. During their trial marriages, J.R. was paired up with Sandy—who he shared both a physical and emotional connection with—while Zaina was paired up with Scotty.
While Zaina and Scotty got on well, it was clear they were both there to try and make themselves better people for their own relationships and prepare for a potential marriage. Zaina, meanwhile, was furious to discover her partner J.R had kissed Sandy and pushed him to be transparent with her about the details.
When they reunited, Zaina and J.R. tried to go deeper into their relationship, with him sharing details about his past and childhood, but a question mark remained over their potential future together. During the ultimatum finale, J.R. did not propose to Zaina and the pair left single.
Since leaving the experiment, they remained in each other’s lives but have varying stories about what happened. For J.R., he said the relationship was done after the experiment but he still had a lot of care for Zaina and was helping her with her injections for freezing her eggs. On the other hand, Zaina said the pair continued their relationship up until the point when J.R. ghosted her.
During the reunion, Zaina expressed she’s healed and learned a lot from their relationship and she is now in a really good place. The pair is understandably no longer on speaking terms.
Scotty and Aria
Relationship status: Not together
Scotty, 30, issued partner Aria, 25, with an ultimatum before the pair entered into the experiment after three years together, saying, “At the end of this experience, I hope my partner will choose me in the way that I have chosen her.”
During their trial marriages, Scotty was paired with Zaina, while Aria was paired up with Caleb. Both pairs appeared to be getting on well, developing strong bonds but never anything intimate, with Caleb telling Aria at the end of their three weeks together: “I’ve gotten more comfortable with the idea of having a wife and having children [because of you].”
When Scotty and Aria paired back up, they shared some jealousy over their trial marriages, with Aria praising Caleb’s calm demeanor and Scotty sharing how he loved quality time with Zaina. Scotty then accused Aria of having a negative impact on his energy and holding onto things in their relationship for an extended period of time.
Even so, the pair did end up getting engaged during the ultimatum decision, with Scotty getting down on one knee during the episode.
But during the reunion, they revealed they ended their engagement the day after filming the proposal. The couple still stayed together for a year and moved in together, but after a number of conflicts arose and the couple dealt with difficult family moments, they decided they were better off single.
