Gwyneth Paltrow Opens up About Filming Sex Scenes With Timothée Chalamet
Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about her choice not to use an intimacy co-ordinator while filming sex scenes with Timothée Chalamet.
The pair are set to star in new A24 movie Marty Supreme, which is due for release at the end of the year. Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme is a comedy-drama movie based in the world of professional ping pong. Chalamet plays the titular character Marty Mauser, who falls into bed with the wife of one of his rivals, played by Paltrow.
In a new cover interview with Vanity Fair, Paltrow opened up about the filming process, including her discovery of intimacy coordinators, and her choice not to use one when filming the sex scenes with Chalamet.
During the interview, Paltrow told the publication there is a “lot of sex” in the film; however, having spent much of her time in the industry shooting intimate scenes without an intimacy coordinator, she didn't feel the need for the addition of the new role.
“We said, ‘I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back,’” she revealed to Vanity Fair. “I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but…if someone is like, ‘Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here...I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that.’”
She also recalled a time when the intimacy coordinator asked her if she felt comfortable with a certain position, to which Paltrow had replied: “I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on.’”
As for working with Chalamet? Paltrow calls him “a man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner.”
Marty Supreme marks Gwyneth's first film role since 2019, after she took a step back from Hollywood.
The movie is expected to be released in the US on 25 December. Well, consider our tickets booked and ready to go.
