Gogglebox's moving tribute to fan favourite cast member Di Kershaw
Gogglebox Australia will pay tribute to former cast member Di Kershaw when the show returns for its 16th season this week.
Di, who had appeared on the reality show alongside her husband Mick since it first aired in 2015, passed away in July after a short battle with throat cancer at the age of 76.
Gogglebox will dedicate the first episode of the new season to Di and feature a three-minute montage of her best moments on the show, according to news.com.au.
Di was a fan favourite cast member on the series, with viewers loving her sense of humour, ‘sassy wit’ and ‘honest’ commentary, particularly on dating shows.

She and Mick were Indigenous art dealers and had been married for over 50 years at the time of Di’s death.
The pair have had an interesting history, with their Gogglebox bio reading: “Di, a former model, convinced Mick to give up his high-flying career as an advertising executive in order to follow their passion for art. They opened their own art gallery and dealership and 30 years later, the business is still going strong.”
‘Rest In Peace Di’
Tributes came flowing in from Di’s Gogglebox family after the show’s official Instagram page dedicated a post to her last month.
“Rest In Peace Di, you absolute legend. Enjoy the glass of wine up there,” Adam Densten penned.
“So sad to hear this news, Rest In Peace Di, sending all our love to Mick and her family,” the Jackson family commented, followed by the Delpechitra family who wrote, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mick and the rest of the family. We’ll miss your laugh and honesty”.
“RIP Di, you will be missed. Thank you for all the great laughs and memories,” Jad Nehmetallah wrote, while Matty Fahd added, “Losing your energy from our GB family and from our TV screens will be felt by us and all of Australia. We will miss everything about you. Thank you for the everlasting impact you had”.
Angie Kent and Yvie Jones also shared a tribute on their joint Instagram page, writing: “Very saddened to hear the news this morning that fellow Gogglebox family member Di has passed away. She was such a force. Our hearts go out to Mick and their children and family. What a loss. Vale Di. Rest In Peace.”
New Household
The sixteenth season of Gogglebox is set to introduce a new household to its lineup this year: a group of four friends from Brisbane who all have Indigenous heritage.
Kevin, a Wakka Wakka and South Sea Islander man, is a university lecturer and research student examining ways to best support First Nations peoples seeking justice and compensation from workplace racism.
Kevin is in a five-year relationship with Bob, a Kamilaroi man, and they have two children who they co-parent and raise alongside their mum.
Also in the group is Jared, a Kalkadoon, Undumbu and South Sea Islander man who has a passion for social justice and community politics, and Mia, a Yuwaalaraay and Gamilaraay woman who works in the tertiary sector managing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Collections and Services.
The new TV commentators are big fans of Euphoria, Wentworth, RuPaul’s Drag Race and The Project.
Gogglebox Australia premieres Wednesday, 24 August on Foxtel, and Thursday, 25 August on Channel Ten
