Gogglebox star's tough decision after wife's death

The husband of Gogglebox Australia star Di Kershaw has opened up about her final days before her death.

Mick Kershaw, 80, and his wife were due to star on the next season of Gogglebox, which was due to start filming next month, before she lost her life to a secret illness.

Mick, who was married to Di for more than 50 years, told the Daily Mail he would not go on to appear on the reality show, and opened up about his wife's last three months.

He said the 76-year-old fell ill three months ago and struggled to keep food down before she was diagnosed with inoperable throat cancer.

She was in hospital for nine weeks before being transferred to Sacred Heart Hospice for her last two weeks.

Mick told the publication her only option as the cancer spread was chemo or radiation, which she declined.

"She would have hated to sit around here for six months being incapacitated. So she made the decision to end it earlier rather than later," he said.

"She couldn't eat orally so she was being fed intravenously and she chose to terminate that.

"Part of that decision was thinking about us. A big part of that decision was not wanting to put us through that."
