Glenn Close’s Balmain Dress Was a Handwritten ‘Love Letter’ to Golden Globes 2025 Viewers

Glenn Close graced the red carpet at the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday. As one of the night’s presenters, the actress opted for an ensemble by Balmain that showcased the brand’s signature craftsmanship and structured design.

Styled by Jessica Paster, whose clients include Quinta Brunson and Emily Blunt, Close wore the “Love Letter” Embroidery Dress, a striking piece by creative director Olivier Rousteing for the house’s Resort 2025 Collection. The gown features a round neckline and a slim silhouette. Its structured shoulders and attached opera gloves, a hallmark of Balmain’s tailoring, added a bold element to the look. The black fabric of the dress was adorned with intricate embroidery inspired by handwritten letters.

To complete the outfit, Close paired the dress with strappy platform sandals by Christian Louboutin. The shoes featured the brand’s signature red soles and added height to the actress’s look.

Close kept her accessories understated, allowing the details of her dress to remain the focal points. She carried a compact clutch and wore minimal jewelry.

Close’s hair was styled in a softly swept-back look, while her makeup featured subtle, neutral tones, focusing on a dewy complexion and lightly defined eyes.

The 2025 Golden Globes ceremony celebrates over eight decades of honoring entertainment excellence. Broadcast on CBS and hosted by Nikki Glaser, this year’s event featured 27 categories, including drama, comedy and limited series.
