“Fallout” Star Walton Goggins Debuts Line of Sunglasses That Are a Cross Between Goggles and Glasses (Exclusive)
The actor tells PEOPLE about how he was inspired to design a new pair of sporty eyewear that, like Goggins, are decidedly cooler than average
Are they goggles? Are they glasses? Or are they a unique hybrid of both called "Walton Goggins Goggle Glasses?"
Yup, they're the latter, and they've just been released by actor Walton Goggins, who says he was inspired to design them when he was looking for a unique sunglasses shape and came up empty-handed.
"I think that eyewear is the greatest opportunity for fashion accessories on the body," says the Fallout and Righteous Gemstones star, who is known for his bold looks on the red carpet.
"I mean, for example, I have two watches. I bought my first really nice watch almost 18 years ago, and I just bought another nice watch. But I probably have about 25 or 30 pairs of nice sunglasses that I've collected over the years. I even remember my first pair that I bought after saving up tips from valet parking in the San Fernando Valley years ago," says Goggins, who also recently wrapped filming The White Lotus Season 3.

"Sunglass has always been one of the ways in which I really expressed myself in a fashion sense, and I was recently looking for a new style and thought, 'Well, I've seen these, I've felt these, I wear these... there must be a different experience for people out there,'" he tells PEOPLE.
He says his inspiration behind the goggle and glasses combo was nostalgia.
"It's Aspen in the '80s, and when I say Aspen in the '80s, it's not like I ever went skiing in Aspen in the '80s," he says with a laugh, noting that he grew up in a small town in Georgia raised by a single mom and a collection of aunts and uncles.

"But I remember the very first pair of ski goggles I got, and I just loved them," he tells PEOPLE. "I never wanted to take them off my head. I loved the strap. I just liked the way that they felt on my eyes. I mean, they were just a very cool accessory. And I thought, what is a smaller version of that that people can really wrap their heads around wearing in an urban environment?"
"It's just a cool retro experience," he tells PEOPLE of the glasses, which come with both a goggles strap and regular glasses arms. "You can wear them running, to the club, playing racketball, to a Phish concert, to play volleyball, and then to sit down and have a margarita."
Goggins, who is currently in L.A. filming season two of Fallout, says he's been wearing the prototype around town and has been getting stopped constantly by people asking what they are.
"I wear them a lot now, and people on the street stop me, like, what is going on here? What did you get those? What are those? And how can I get a pair?" He adds, "They make people happy. They're happy glasses."
The shades, which cost $150, come in five different colors: neon yellow, blue, white, black and tortoise shell.
