Erin Foster Jokingly Wondered If Kristen Bell and Adam Brody Were 'Having an Affair' During “Nobody Wants This”

Erin Foster joked that she wondered if life was imitating art on the set of Nobody Wants This.

The creator of the hit Netflix show revealed that she and the rest of the crew knew fans wouldn’t be able to get enough of the chemistry between Kristen Bell, 44, and Adam Brody, 45, while filming.

"We knew that was gonna happen because we were on set watching them," she told E! News at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, before jokingly adding, "We were like, 'Are they having an affair?' This chemistry is insane."

"Then the cameras turn off and they're like brother and sister,” she added.

However, there was one iconic scene that was particularly important to Erin.

"Erin was crazy about the kissing scene," Sara Foster, who produced Nobody Wants This with her sister, told the outlet. "She was in their face the whole time off camera.”

She added: “She knew exactly how she wanted that kiss and she got the kiss."

Brody — who shared a passionate kiss with wife Leighton Meester after winning the award for best actor in a comedy series at the Critics Choice Awards — previously opened up about the success of the show.

“I knew that we had something that worked, but I had no idea the sort of wide swath of people that would enjoy it. That has been an absolute pleasant surprise,” the actor told PEOPLE. "I’ve been doing this a long time, and it doesn’t happen often, whoever you are. So it’s very gratifying and exciting."

He also recalled how the script described the first kiss between Noah and his Bell’s Joanne, saying, "I’m paraphrasing, but it said something to the effect of, “It’s the greatest of all time.'"

"'Put your ice cream down,' 'put the bag down' was in there. I think 'he touches her face.' I mean, I’m just happy that I got to be part of an apparently memorable kiss. it’s a very cinematic thing."

Bell’s husband Dax Shepard also joked about the pair’s chemistry during an appearance at the New Yorker Festival on Oct. 26.

When asked about his own "incredible chemistry" with his wife, Shepard had an unexpected response: "Not as good as her and Brody," he said of The O.C. alum.
