Dylan Mulvaney and Gus Kenworthy Launch Book Clubs Supporting LGBTQ+ Rights

Dylan Mulvaney and Gus Kenworthy are creating new book clubs, for an important cause.

On Dec. 17, actress Mulvaney and Olympic athlete Kenworthy announced the launch of two new book clubs, created in partnership with Allstora, RuPaul’s book marketplace. The book clubs will support the distribution of banned books to LGBTQ+ organizations nationwide through Allstora’s charity, The Rainbow Book Bus.

Mulvaney will launch the Dylan Mulvaney Book Club, which features titles about entertainment and pop culture. The club’s book selections aim to “inspire readers to embrace their unique stories while championing narratives that amplify individuality and joy,” per a statement shared with PEOPLE.

“Having a book club was on my vision board for 2024, and I’m so excited to be able to fulfill this dream with a company like Allstora, which champions all voices,” says Mulvaney, who is publishing her debut memoir, Paper Doll: Notes From a Late Bloomer, in 2025.

Kenworthy’s club, called Gus Kenworthy’s Coffee Table Book Club, will specialize in coffee table books about art, fashion and design, and aims to “challenge conventional thinking about beauty and culture.”

"I love what The Rainbow Book Bus is doing, and would have loved to have these books when I was going up,” Kenworthy says. “Everyone should have access to books that make them feel seen, loved and supported.”

Together with the Rainbow Book Club, and through book club subscriptions, Mulvaney and Kenworthy plan to donate 2,500 banned books to populations affected by book banning over the holiday season; The Rainbow Book Bus will have donated 10,000 books by the end of 2024.

Book club members will receive a new book selection each month, as well as exclusive access to opportunities to connect with the book club hosts and other readers.
