“Drag Race” star Hormona Lisa felt like cast 's--- on' her over RuPaul's invitation to join season: 'It was sad to me'
Hormona also explains to EW what she meant when she said she felt "the enemy" inside guest judge Katy Perry.
After weeks of fans comparing her RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 confessional look to Sadness from Inside Out, star Hormona Lisa — the show's latest eliminated queen — admits that the Pixar character is an apt comparison given how some of her sisters made her feel during filming.
In her exit interview (following her lip-sync against Lana Ja'Rae, after the judges critiqued both queens' designs in this week's ball challenge), Hormona tells EW her sisters' reaction to her status as RuPaul's hand-picked contestant of the season didn't sit well with her. Especially, as she notes, she was "most proud" of the fact that Mama Ru selected her to join the season after meeting Hormona face-to-face at a book tour event in early 2024.
Now, with Hormona's Drag Race dreams on hold (NOT dashed! There's always time for an invitation to All Stars!), the Tennessee beauty opens up about her time on the show, from drama with Kori King and Lexi Love to how she really felt about guest judge Katy Perry and a full explainer on her lip-sync gags that didn't shine all the way through at the end of her final season 17 episode.
Read on for EW's full exit interview with Hormona. RuPaul's Drag Race continues Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Hormona Lisa's look for the 'Drag Race' season 17 ballENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I want to clarify something from our group interview. I clocked that you said that we needed to pray for Katy Perry, and also Suzie Toot said later that you revealed that you felt the enemy in her. Can you elaborate?
HORMONA LISA: Growing up in the South in a religious household, that’s something I’ve heard my whole life. Saying someone has the enemy in them doesn’t mean they’re possessed…. The enemy presents itself in a lot of different ways, whether that’s stress or self-doubt or anything negatively affecting your mind in that moment. I felt like Katy Perry was very stressed out that day. Maybe her mind was in a different place. I felt bad for her. That’s what I consider the enemy, anything that’s taking you out of enjoying the moment. But, I do pray for everybody!
You stunned the girls in our group interview when you revealed that you’d kai-kai with Kori. Why did that reveal get such a big reaction?
It was apparent to everybody in the room from day one that Kori was not my fan. We didn’t know each other, so there was nothing that went into that decision. Form Kori’s side, I didn’t have an issue until it became a thing affecting the room. The obvious tension there was kind of awkward.
Kori definitely looked upset when you were saved.
At one point when we weren’t filming, I told Kori, “I know that you don’t like me, but by the end of this, we’re going to be best friends.”
Are you best friends now?
Well, the end isn’t here yet. We still have some time before the finale. The answer is no, we aren’t best friends, but we are like acquaintances now, and that’s a step in the right direction!

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but you were hand-picked by RuPaul. Was tension between the cast over this as bad in the room as it seemed on TV?
Yes. It was sad to me because one of the things I was most proud of, because that doesn’t happen to everybody. For it to be s--- on by a room of people I rooted for and to the best of my ability was kind to, it’s a little s----y, but at the end of the day, nice people are not nice for the intention of someone being nice to them. It didn’t matter to me, but rumblings from the girls assumed I was a shoo-in to win…. Some of them did tell me that. That makes more sense in context. That doesn’t mean I think it’s okay, how some of them treated me, but it does make sense. If the tables were turned, would I have felt that way if someone else had been invited like I was? Yeah! [But] I wouldn’t have knocked their crown off to make mine look better.
The first time you landed in the bottom, you revealed on social media that stand-up comedy wasn’t your first talent show choice. What were you going to do?
I wanted to do a burlesque routine as a human stripping down to a robot. I rehearsed that for over a week. I needed one of those air-brushed human skin situations, so I had one made and it came in a couple of days before we were to leave and it wasn’t serviceable…. The second thing I was going to do was an original track that had animal impersonations in it.
Let's talk about the Lexi moment, where you had to remove your stones during the design challenge. How mad were you in the moment? Did you consider squealing on Suzie for doing the same thing?
When it first happened, it felt like a setup. We had a limited amount of stones that came from the materials provided, and Lexi got most of them. I had appliqués I planned to cut up. When Lucky struggled, Lexi said I should give them to her because I didn’t need embellishments and Lucky needed something. I ended up giving them to Lucky, and I had earrings that I could take apart and use the stones on the dress. I didn’t say it out loud…. [Suzie] said that [Lexi] came for me, but she didn’t raise her voice. She only did when I walked away, and I yelled at her and told her to keep my name out of her mouth.
With Suzie, I noticed it before anybody did, that she had them on hers after Lexi brought it up. I don’t think I brought it up…. It would be different if I had noticed it in the moment and brought it up out of spite, I don’t operate out of spite. Suzie was proud of her little headpiece, and I wouldn’t take that away from her. Ultimately, if she didn’t have that, she was going to wear one of her little red wigs again, and I didn’t want her to repeat a wig.

Hormona LisaDid you bribe Onya Nurve and Arrietty to ruin Lexi’s dress this episode?
The world works out the way it’s supposed to. If you have a tarp that you’re painting, don’t leave your tarp next to another tarp that people are painting on top of.
On this episode, you did several gags that were hard to make out on screen. What were you doing?
There’s a lyric in the song ["Get Him Back" by Olivia Rodrigo] about letters being thrown in the trash, so for the first one I had letters in my bosom that I pulled out and threw in the air dramatically. The other one was a flower, the whole he loves me, he loves me not thing. The lyrics gave that vibe so it was a flower I ripped apart. They were glued on very strongly. I don’t have strong hands so I couldn’t get them off.
