Doja Cat unrecognisable after bizarre transformation: 'Hate it'
The Say So singer has divided fans with her bold choice.
Doja Cat has baffled fans with her dramatic transformation which left the singer completely unrecognisable. The LA pop star turned heads when she arrived at Paris Fashion Week’s Schiaparelli Haute Couture show on Monday.
Working with celebrity makeup designer Pat McGrath, the Say So singer was covered from head to toe in red body paint and over 30,000 red Swarovski crystals. To complement the sparkling look, the 27-year-old wore a strapless red dress with a textured ball detail on the skirt, red stiletto boots and finished off with a long red shawl.
Her accessories were kept light, opting to wear a pair of statement red jewelled earrings but no necklace or bracelets. The star looked like a work of art as she sat in the front row, with the makeup artist telling Vogue she was going for a “shimmering, scintillating and subversive look”.
The Schiaparelli 2023 couture runway shows took inspiration from Dante Alighieri’s poem Inferno, with models adorned with fake animal heads, gold body paint and nature-inspired pieces.

In a behind-the-scenes clip posted on Instagram, the makeup designer gave fans a look at how Doja’s extreme look came together.
The team began by fitting a bald cap over her shaved head before adding red body paint that covered her face and body. A group of makeup artists then painstakingly applied the Swarovski crystals over her head, chest and arms by hand.
“Such a pleasure working with the gorgeous Doja Cat and the amazing Daniel Robbery on the ‘Doja’s Inferno’ look for Schiaparelli’s FW23 Haute Couture collection,” Pat wrote on Instagram.
“Doja’s sublime patience during the 4 hours and 58 minutes it took to create the look with Team Pat McGrath, which was covered in over 30,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals, was inspiring. The final product was a magical, mesmerising masterpiece of sparkling brilliance.”
She added that the look ‘celebrated the essence of haute couture’, calling the sparkling result ‘legendary and sublime’.
The dramatic look divided fans, with some admitting they ‘hated’ Doja’s polarising choice.
“Looks like something that hides under my son’s bed in the night. He’d be so scared if he saw this,” one person quipped.
“Why does she look like a blood clot? I don’t get it,” another added.
“Am I the only one that really, really hates it? It’s fugly,” a third chimed in.
“Unpopular opinion: It looks demonic. Like if I saw this in a movie where the villain was satanic and doing horrid things I wouldn’t be surprised because it would fit the plot perfectly,” remarked another.

However, there were many who praised the makeup designer for creating such a bold look.
“I kept looking at her pictures and I was like how? How is her whole entire face like that? This is literally Swarovski skin…it’s mind-blowing. This is beyond impressive!” gushed a fan.
“Literal ART. This is so captivating and just stunning! I’m really in awe,” another added.
“Now this is a look that only Doja could werk the room in and own. Phenomenally stunning!” a third commented.
