“Doctor Who” star Karen Gillan announces birth of first child
She and husband Nick Kocher welcomed a baby girl, Clementine.
Actress Karen Gillan, known for her role on TV's Doctor Who and in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, has welcomed a daughter.
"2024 thank you for giving us Clementine," she captioned several photos of herself and husband Nick Kocher holding their new arrival.
One photo showed the couple holing mugs proclaiming the best parents ever, and the last slide needed an explanation. See the post below.
"I shot a film called Let's Have Kids right as I got preggo in real life so take that Daniel Day Lewis," Gillan joked in the caption about the Oscar-winning star of There Will Be Blood and The Last of the Mohicans, who's known for his intense dedication to roles.
Gillan and Kocher, a former Saturday Night Live writer and actor on shows such as How I Met Your Mother, married in 2022. She was visibly pregnant in September when she held her belly on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival.
This is the first child for both.

Gillan predicted she would be a good mother in a 2018 podcast, Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, according to the same outlet.
"I definitely want them," she said of children. "It's going to be hilarious. I think I would be a good mum. I feel like I would definitely be good at playing with the kids, like being one of them."
Gillan said then that she hoped to return to Scotland eventually.
"I think there's a possibility that I'll come back at some point," she said. "I've made my house very Scottish-looking; it doesn't feel like I'm in LA at all. It reminds me of a granny's home in Scotland - which is what I am in my soul."
