"Glorifying and promoting animal exploitation in 2023, we are better than this! #horseracingkills and I encourage everyone here with bit of empathy and kindness in them to really look into the Australian horse racing industry. If you're still choosing to support it, at least be informed about your choices... @horseracingkills documents the incidents every race."

"Well said," another user responded. "I am really disappointed that Delta chose this barbaric event to perform at. I always thought Delta came across as a highly empathetic woman. Why would you want your music associated with animal cruelty?"

"A horse died yesterday @flemingtonvrc #youbettheydie," a third user wrote on another of Delta's posts.

"Not at all surprised to see that Delta Goodrem is performing at #NupToTheCup. That seems just like her," one Twitter user wrote.

"Not going to lie I was hoping Delta was done with the Melbourne Cup appearances ah well," another said.

Last year, fans shared similar thoughts, with one user commenting on one of Delta's Instagram posts, "I love you, but horse racing is a cruel thing to enjoy and promote."

"Should you be supporting such a cruel 'sport' though?" someone else wrote.

"Disappointed Delta that you have a platform where you can use your voice to bring attention to some cruel practices in the racing industry," yet another said. "Does it not bother you how these majestic horses are treated? How many horses will die this Cup?"

Delta also turned off comments after.
