David Spade & Theo Von Team On Buddy Comedy ‘Busboys’
Comedians David Spade and Theo Von are set to produce and star in Busboys, a buddy comedy that they co-wrote and have self-financed, which enters production in Los Angeles at the top of the new year.
Set in a border town in Arizona, the film follows David and Theo, two friends that think becoming waiters will solve all their problems. They are wrong.

Jonah Feingold (At Midnight) is directing from Spade and Von’s script, with Robert Ogden Barnum joining the pair as producers.
Stated Spade, “We are looking forward to gracing everyone with this comedy that no one asked for.”
Breaking out as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, Spade has since then gone on to film and TV projects like Joe Dirt, Grown Ups, The Wrong Missy, Rules of Engagement, and 8 Simples Rules, among many others. A four-time Emmy nominee who continues to tour his stand-up shows nationwide, Spade released his latest special, Nothing Personal, on Netflix in 2022. He can currently be heard co-hosting the hit podcast Fly on the Wall, alongside fellow SNL alum Dana Carvey, as well as their spin-off pop culture podcast Superfly, and will next seen in Jonah Hill’s dark comedy Outcome for Apple.
Currently on his Return of The Rat arena tour, Von is the host of This Past Weekend, one of the most listened-to podcasts in the world. He has two specials on Netflix, between No Offense and Regular People, having most recently released the latter in 2021.
Best known for helming Paramount+’s rom-com At Midnight, starring Monica Barbaro and Diego Boneta, Feingold more recently directed holiday comedy EXMas for the now-defunct Freevee and also has the romantic comedy 31 Candles in the can.
