"SNL" Boss Lorne Michaels Said That He Told Taylor Swift "I Do Not Negotiate With Terrorists" And Hung Up On Her After She Allegedly Asked To Cut An "SNL" Sketch

Saturday Night Live will air its 50th anniversary special this weekend, commemorating 50 seasons on air.

As part of that celebration, SNL head Lorne Michaels gave an extensive interview to Vulture looking back on the history and hottest moments from the show — including one sketch involving legend and icon Taylor Swift.

According to the interview, in 2015, Taylor was asked to appear in a skit that made fun of her friend group. It spoofed the "Bad Blood" music video — which had featured her real-life friends like Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid — suggesting they were secretly members of an apocalyptic cult.

The outlet reports that "Michaels was in his office when Swift called him directly to say that not only would she not appear in the video but she wanted Michaels to kill the sketch entirely." Lorne replied, "Taylor, I do not negotiate with terrorists," before hanging up the phone.

After the episode's release, Taylor reportedly contacted Lorne again. She allegedly sent flowers and a note that said, "I hope there's no bad blood."

And, from the look of it, there wasn't, as Taylor went on to appear on SNL several times. She most recently appeared on the show in October 2023 to introduce her "Karma" collaborator, Ice Spice, ahead of the rapper's musical performance.
