Aussie fans have praised Cody Simpson for his national anthem performance at the AFL grand final on Saturday. Some viewers went so far as to say the singer-turned-swimmer gave them "goosebumps" with his rendition of the anthem.

While Katy Perry might have divided with her performance, it's clear people loved Cody's. Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts on the 27-year-old's performance, with one user writing, "WOW @CodySimpson you gave me goosebumps! Now THAT’S how you sing a National Anthem!!"

Some also called for Cody to return again next year, with one user writing, "Get him back next year, excellent."

Cody announced he would be performing the national anthem earlier this month, taking to social media to share the big news.

After unfortunately failing to qualify for this year's Olympics, Cody announced he would be returning to his singing career, which he put on hold while pursuing his sporting dreams.
