Chris McNally Met Girlfriend Julie Gonzalo in the Most Hallmark Way
Chris McNally has made a name for himself as a TV heartthrob in various Hallmark movies and as Lucas Bouchard on When Calls the Heart. In addition to the network being such a big part of his career, it also led him to the love of his life: his partner of seven years, American-Argentinian actress Julie Gonzalo.
Like many Hollywood romances, the actors' love story began on a movie set. Chris and Julie portrayed the leads in the 2017 Hallmark film The Sweetest Heart, and life seemingly imitated art for the two in terms of falling for each other. They eventually started dating, and the rest was history.
"He's such a wonderful, wonderful person and a terrific actor," Julie told FanSided (per Us Weekly) in March 2018 about working alongside Chris. "So, it was very easy with him."
While fans didn't necessarily know then whether Chris and Julie were an item, the actor opened up about their relationship in May 2019.
When North Shore News asked how Chris managed to convince Julie to go out with him, he had a very Hallmark-esque answer for it. Since he'd already starred in the Hallmark romance movie A Winter Princess (which aired in January 2019), he joked how he used the film's choreography to make a move on Julie.
"I waltzed her around the living room," he said at the time. "But she's South American so now she wants me to learn to Salsa."
Well, clearly it worked, since Chris and Julie's relationship has blossomed over the years to more than just partners. While the two often keep their relationship out of the spotlight, Julie surprised fans in June 2022 when she revealed on Instagram the birth of the couple's first child together.
"Our hearts are full," she captioned the Instagram post featuring her finger being held in her newborn daughter's hand. "Welcome baby M ♥️."
What's more, Julie shared how special it has been to parent with Chris when she posted a heartfelt Father's Day tribute in June 2023. "Happy Father’s Day love," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "She’s a lucky little lady 🧜🏼♀️💖."
Even though Chris and Julie are quiet about their life at home, fans did get to see them go back to where things began for them — on a film set. The two teamed up again to star in the 2023 Hallmark movie 3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost, where they played exes who are brought back together by a ghost haunting them.
Despite showcasing an element of their relationship on camera, Chris shared that his favorite job is being a parent with Julie.
"Fatherhood is fantastic. It's my favorite job," he told Entertainment Tonight in March 2023. "It's a job I've always wanted to do and I'm really, really grateful that right now, at least, I've got a wonderful dad job because for When Calls the Heart we film four and a half months... so I can be really present with her. And then I get the rest of the year, which is like, it's just such a blessing... I've just been on dad mode and it's fantastic."
We so love this for them!
