Cassandra Thorburn details 'challenging' relationship with ex Karl Stefanovic
Cassandra Thorburn has opened up about co-parenting with her ex-husband Karl Stefanovic — and revealed their dynamic is often a ‘challenging’ one.
The comments came as part of the mother-of-three’s chat with Kidspot podcast The Juggling Act, where she spoke about how she and 43-year-old Karl navigate parenthood following a very high profile split.
The pair were married for 21 years before separating in 2016, and share children Jackson, 20, Ava, 14, and River, 12.
They now have a step-mother in shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough, 35, who Karl met three months after his separation from Cass, and married in December 2018.
Parenting post-split
Although Cass didn’t go into detail about her family’s custody arrangement, she revealed the post-split arrangement hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
“Co-parenting I think is a massive challenge,” she told the podcast.
“Even if there's an amicable agreement between the parties, it still becomes hard.
“You're leading separate lives, you're no longer in a co-environment. So co-parenting... that's a big word.”
However, Cass wasn’t completely critical of the set-up and added the likelihood of a positive outcome can be increased if certain processes are followed.
“There obviously is a way to navigate it. I don't think there's a textbook of instructions in point form [where] you can guarantee you're going to get that end result,” she said.
Since the Stefanovics’ split three years ago, Cass has kept busy—most notably with a stint of this year’s Dancing With The Stars in addition to locking in a regular guest spot on Studio 10.
