Caravan owner's 'handy' Kmart product for cooking on the road: 'Game changer'
Social media users have admitted they ‘can’t camp without it’.
Amidst dealing with the limited amount of storage and struggling to find a spot to hang your wet clothes and towels, one of the hardest parts about travelling around in a caravan is cooking. While most people choose to cook their meals on a gas stovetop, a woman has recently gone viral on social media after showcasing Kmart’s induction cooker.
The kitchen appliance is available for just $52 and allows you to conveniently cook on the road using 10 levels of power and temperature settings. It’s compatible with cast-iron, enamel-coated iron and stainless steel cookware, and has a child lock function which makes it safe around kids.

Carissa Morgan (@laid_back_adventures) has racked up over 400,000 views on social media after she shared a video using the product and described it as the “best Kmart purchase”.
“The induction cooktop has been an absolute game changer for speed and ease cooking on the road,” she captioned the post.
The mother-of-two tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the induction cooker is “so much faster” than cooking on gas, which has made a huge difference while travelling.
“Something as simple as boiling the jug, we're drinking tea in no time,” she remarks. “Our advice would absolutely be simple - it's a no-brainer. Inexpensive, easy and takes up minimal weight and space in the van. The perfect addition to the cupboard.”
'Can't camp without it'
Carissa’s post was quickly flooded with positive comments from other caravan owners praising the “handy” product.
"How amazing are they? I love my induction cooker, I rather use that than the gas,” one person wrote, while another added, “The best! Have had mine for 2 years now… can’t camp without it”.
“We loved changing over to this as well. The BBQ was made redundant in the end,” a third shared, followed by someone else who said. “Yes I have to agree. We can’t believe how good it is”.
“So with you here we have two of them,” a different user remarked. “We have broken 2x more expensive cookers in the last 12 months so when we saw these we figured why not give it a go and we have not been dissatisfied in the least!”

Many social media users were also thrilled by the fact that the induction cooker can be powered off-grid.
When asked how much power it draws, Carissa replied: “We estimate about 30 odd amps for our normal pot of pasta then spaghetti mince but obviously completing depending on your system and what you're cooking/how long it’s on.”
