Candace Cameron Bure 'fought hard' to wear 'very stylish' outfit on “Full House” episode
"It is big hair, big outfit," Andrea Barber recalls of the very ’90s ensemble on the "How Rude, Tanneritos" podcast.
There's one iconic outfit that D.J. Tanner wears on Full House that had star Candace Cameron Bure herself saying "oh mylanta" to.
So much so, that she fought the producers of the show to wear it, this according to costars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber in a recent episode of their rewatch podcast How Rude, Tanneritos.
In the episode, the duo are going back through season 3's episode 21 "Just Say No Way," in which D.J. (Bure) finds her boyfriend drinking beer at the school dance, but Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) seems to think he caught her drinking underage, when that couldn't be further from the truth. D.J. famously sports black MC Hammer pants, with a gold-detailed bustier and black bolero jacket, with a giant belt and even bigger hair to match.
"This was the hair that she would pull her hair out to the side, and then you'd spray it like that. You'd literally spray it so your hair went out to the side of your head," Sweetin recalled, laughing at the ’90s staple. "I feel like shoulder pads were getting a little smaller, but the bangs were getting a lot bigger."

"The bangs. Baby's got bangs, man. It is big hair, big outfit," Barber agreed, adding, "Candace loved this outfit. The producers wanted her to wear a dress. She was like, no. This is what I wanna wear, this little pantsuit outfit. And she got to."
The duo agreed that the final look "was very stylish" and incredibly ’90s. "She was fantastic. So this is very edgy. And you can see the Janet Jackson influence is still strong," Barber concluded.
