Princess Charlotte Takes After Queen Elizabeth With This Hidden Talent
Get this girl a comedy special.
Princess Charlotte is a royal of many talents, from her tennis ability to her dance moves and skills on the piano keys—which she gets from her mother, Kate Middleton. Well, it seems the young princess also has a knack for comedy and inherited her timing from one of her other royal relatives.
According to royal author Phil Dampier, Charlotte's uncanny impersonations of public figures take after Queen Elizabeth. "I'm told Charlotte has also inherited from the late Queen a brilliant ability to mimic prominent figures," Dampier told Hello!, adding that her prowess in impressions will make for a great party trick during family holiday festivities. "That should come in handy at Christmas when the royals gather in the evening at Sandringham to play charades."
Charlotte's great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, used the bit to make her friends and family laugh, according to Dampier. "Queen Elizabeth used to have her family in stitches with her impersonations of politicians, including U.S. Presidents and former Russian leader Boris Yeltsin," he added.
Charlotte's wit has brought levity to a rather dark year for the royals. The author added that the young royal has been a huge support to her mother during her battle with cancer this year. "I'm told that although the Princess of Wales has obviously been looking after her children during her cancer treatment and reassuring them she is getting better, Charlotte has been a great source of strength to her," Dampier continued.
Comedy isn't the only similarity between Charlotte and Elizabeth, though. In addition to bearing a resemblance to her late great-grandmother, Charlotte has also developed maturity at a young age. "Winston Churchill once said of the late Queen Elizabeth when she was a child that he had never seen such maturity in someone so young, and Charlotte seems to have inherited that trait from her great-grandmother, to whom she bears an uncanny resemblance," Dampier added.
Charlotte has numerous passions. In addition to being a fan and spectator of tennis, the princess is skilled on the court, as well. In fact, earlier this year, Charlotte was inspired by the players at Wimbledon and was practicing her own moves this summer. Middleton also passed down her ability to tickle the ivories to Charlotte. During a meeting with famed pianist Lang Lang last year, the Princess of Wales revealed that Charlotte had taken up piano.
"We talked about Charlotte. Her royal highness talked about Charlotte's piano playing, I'm sure she's good,” the musician old Hello! at the time. “Her royal highness said to me that she said to Princess Charlotte, 'Hey, look, if you practice a lot you can be like him.'”
