Prince William's Ex-Staffer Sends a Bold Message After Major Royal Shakeup: 'Time to Move On'

Prince William and his wife Princess Kate are facing a major change in their staff due to the departure of longtime staff member, Lieutenant Commander Rob Dixon.

The 42-year-old initially took on the position of equerry, a close assistant of the British royal household, in 2020, working directly for William. Two years later, he took on the role of equerry for Kate as well.

He said he was "immensely grateful for the support, collaboration, and friendships" he gained throughout his time in the position.

Spotlighting major moments throughout his tenure with the royal family, Dixon said, "I was able to play a small part in the funeral of The Prince Philip, the Platinum Jubilee, the funeral of our wonderful late Queen, the Coronation of a new Monarch, and all the weird and wonderful in between!"

"It’s now time to swap the top hat and tails for ‘daily working rig’ once again," he declared, before noting that transitioning his equerry role to "an enthusiastic fresh set of eyes is all part of the process."

Squadron Leader Mike Reynolds has taken over for Dixon as William’s equerry, the Daily Mail reported.

Dixon concluded with a note of thanks and the final message, "I wish you all fair winds and following seas."

It's unclear what Dixon's next step in his career will be. However, he has reportedly spent over 23 years serving in some capacity in the British Royal Navy, including working as a pilot and helicopter instructor before his position as equerry.
