Brooke Boney announces surprising career move after Today promotion

The TV presenter is returning to her roots.

Just over a month after it was announced that Brooke Boney had stepped up at Today and landed a new role as the breakfast show’s newsreader, the TV star has shared some more exciting career news.

It was revealed on Friday that Brooke will be filling in for Woody Whitelaw while he appears on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and co-host KIIS FM’s National Drive show Will & Woody with Will McMahon.

The limited edition show will be retitled Will & Brooke Boney and kick off on Monday following the season premiere of I’m A Celebrity on Sunday night.

Brooke appeared on the radio show on Friday to share the news and said she’s excited to return to the airwaves after working as a weekday morning news announcer on Triple J from 2016 to 2018.

“Will and I will take great pleasure in laughing at [Woody] in the jungle from the comfort of our plush radio studios,” she said.

“I don't have half the amount of food intolerances as Woody, so the show's snack game will definitely improve.”

'Can't wait'

It was confirmed earlier this week that Woody would be flying to South Africa to be a part of the ninth season of I’m A Celebrity.

“Not sure if I fit the criteria of 'celebrity' but I can now reveal that I'm heading to the jungle in South Africa,” he wrote on Instagram alongside the announcement. “Can't wait to be sitting around the campfire with Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe exchanging anecdotes from our equally successful and exciting careers.

“Being away from Mim (his fiancée) and Rem (his five-month-old daughter) will truly be the hardest thing I've ever done, but I hope that by doing this I am showing Rem that getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to grow.”

Other stars who have been announced for the reality show include former MAFS bride Domenica Calarco, Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, Debra Lawrance and Kerri-Anne Kennerley.
