Kyle Sandilands reveals enormous I'm A Celebrity salary he turned down

The radio host said no to the eye-watering figure because it wasn't enough.

Kyle Sandilands has spilled on the eye-watering salary he was offered to appear in the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and why he turned it down.

The shock jock, who recently served as a judge on Channel Seven’s mildly successful Australian Idol reboot, revealed on his radio show on Thursday morning that he said no to a whopping one million dollars because it wasn’t enough money.

“They offered me one million dollars and the ability to smoke whenever I wanted but I’d have to be hidden,” he said.

Despite having a similar deal to the late Shane Warne, who was given permission to smoke when he appeared on the show in 2016, Kyle knocked it back because the paycheque was only half of what the cricket legend took home.

“I said, ‘Warnie got two [million]’ and they were like, ‘Well that’s Warnie,” he detailed. “I said, ‘Well forget about it then.”

The radio host added that besides being dissatisfied with the money, he had already signed a network deal with Channel Seven for Idol.

“They would’ve had an issue with it as well,” he remarked.

While it’s unknown how much Kyle was paid for the recent season of Idol, he previously revealed that he was paid one million dollars per season on the original series before being fired.

Woody joins I’m A Celebrity

Kyle made the comments about I'm A Celebrity during an interview with KIIS’ National Drive show co-host Woody Whitelaw, who was recently announced as one of the celebrities travelling to South Africa to film the ninth season of the reality show.

Woody was grilled by Jackie ‘O’ Henderson about how much money he’s earning from the TV appearance and confirmed it was “somewhere between $80,000 and $150,000”.

He also spoke about rumours that Studio 10 presenter Angela Bishop and boxer Harry Garside might be joining him in the jungle.

Woody shared an Instagram post on Wednesday confirming he had joined the cast of I’m A Celebrity, adding that he wasn’t sure he fit the criteria of ‘celebrity’.

“Can't wait to be sitting around the campfire with Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe exchanging anecdotes from our equally successful and exciting careers,” he wrote.

“Being away from Mim (his fiancée) and Rem (his five-month-old daughter) will truly be the hardest thing I've ever done, but I hope that by doing this I am showing Rem that getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to grow.”
