'Bluey' characters are coming to Disney parks and cruises, company announces
The character line-up at Disney parks and on Disney cruise ships are set to add another canine companion, the Walt Disney Company announced Thursday.
Bluey, the blue heeler dog from the children's show of the same name, will join Disney Experiences at Disneyland, Disney World and on Disney Cruise Line ships, the company said in a press release.
The company said that Bluey, along with her sister Bingo, will be onboard cruises originating from Australia and New Zealand starting in January 2025. The experience will include meet-and-greets and an interactive game.
"Bluey has become a household name for families around the world and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways," Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, said in the release.
Disney did not release details on how or when the characters will appear at its parks.
'Bluey' film announcement
The cruise announcement comes days after Disney announced it would be producing a film about the blue dog with the BBC.
"Bluey" creator Joe Brumm is set to write and direct the film, which will "continue the adventures" of Bluey and Bingo and was announced to be released in 2027.
"Bluey," which originally aired in Australia before it was picked up by Disney+, was the most-watched kids show of 2023 and 2024 across platforms, according to Nielsen reports.
The show has won five Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for "Best Children's Program" and an International Emmy Kids Award in the "Kids: Preschool" category in 2019.
