Is 'Blue Bloods' Really Ending? What We Know About the CBS Show's Future

Blue Bloods fans, it's officially time to say goodbye to the Regan family. On December 13, the show wrapped up season 14 with the last family dinner, which was an emotional event for the show's stars and loyal viewers. But, after 293 episodes, the CBS drama is coming to an end.

Or, is is? Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck have been very vocal about their disappointment in the network's decision to end the successful series, and there have been rumors of a potential spinoff or a move to streaming, but nothing has been confirmed.

Every post on the show's official Instagram account gets bombarded with messages like, "CBS canceled Blue Bloods is still mind boggling. The best tv show on Friday nights at 10pm. It should’ve gotten at least 3 more seasons" and "I am still so disappointed in the decision by CBS to cancel Blue Bloods. Great cast, stories, huge fan base and many storylines left to be created. Does anyone know why it was cancelled? Actors wanting to leave?"

CBS has not disclosed a reason, but it's safe to say it wasn't canceled because the actors wanted to leave. In an interview with Variety, Tom said, "I can’t figure out why they didn’t start streaming it, do 10 episodes a year. But I’m not the boss. Everybody wanted to come back. And I think with this cast, it would have been a gift for the audience."

Donnie added, "It feels like, I read a movie script, I’m negotiating to do a deal for the movie, and I’m walking to my agent’s office, and I keep looking back over my shoulder, hoping someone from Blue Bloods is chasing me down the street saying, ‘Wait, we’re going to do one more season,’ A lot of times in television, 14 years in, people are running for the exit. We’re all trying to move forward now onto what’s next, but I think every one of us has that feeling of just turning back, hoping someone’s there to say, ‘Don’t sign that contract. Wait a minute!’”

So, for now, it's time to say goodbye to Frank, Danny, Erin, Henry, and the rest of the Blue Bloods family. But we're holding out hope that they'll find their way back to our TV screens sometime in the future.
