Blake Lively Revives Butter Yellow Trend in Sequined Sergio Hudson Shirt and Trousers at 2024 Beauty Inc Awards

Blake Lively gave butter yellow a boost on Wednesday at the 2024 Beauty Inc Awards in New York, where she received the Newcomer of the Year Award for her new brand, Blake Brown. The “It Ends With Us” star spent several years perfecting her formulas, which became Target’s largest hair care launch in history this summer.

“We’re the newcomer here, which feels sort of odd to say because we’ve been building this brand for seven years now; it is older than my third and fourth child[ren],” Lively said. “Corrado [Brondi, founder and CEO of Give Back Beauty] is nodding his head — he was actually a pre-pubescent brunette when we started.”

For the occasion, Lively wore a monochromatic Sergio Hudson ensemble from the designer’s spring 2025 collection. Consisting of a sequined button-up and pleated trousers, it debuted on the runway during New York Fashion Week in September.

The “Gossip Girl” actress accessorized with a matching Chanel flap bag, spiked Hawaiian print pumps by Christian Louboutin and jeweled statement earrings. Lively wore her blond tresses in a side part, while her makeup consisted of glittery rose gold eye shadow, rosy blush and a glossy mauve lip.

Others honored at the 2024 Beauty Inc Awards include makeup artist Bobbi Brown, who took home the Pete Born Impact Award for her second makeup brand, Jones Road Beauty.

“I’ve always been someone who thought that makeup is really simple, and that anyone could do their own makeup — it’s about teaching them how to do it,” Brown said.

Labels like Sandy Liang, Bottega Veneta and Schiaparelli sent butter yellow down the runway as early as last year, setting the sunshine-y trend for spring, summer and now fall. The pale lemon hue, which could pass for a neutral, has been worn by stars like Aubrey Plaza, Rihanna and Emily Ratajkowski on the red carpet.
